Βιντεοπαιχνίδι «σώζει» την Αϊτή από την πείνα!!

Ενα φανταστικό, τροπικό νησί στον Ινδικό Ωκεανό με την ονομασία Σεϊλάν. Μια ανθρωπιστική κρίση έχει ξεσπάσει εξαιτίας της εμφύλιας διαμάχης που σπαράζει τους κατοίκους και της ξηρασίας που πλήττει το νησί, ενώ χιλιάδες άνθρωποι αντιμετωπίζουν το φάσμα της πείνας.

Μια επίλεκτη ομάδα του Παγκόσμιου Προγράμματος Σίτισης του ΟΗΕ κατευθύνεται στην περιοχή προκειμένου να παράσχει τρόφιμα και άλλη ανθρωπιστική βοήθεια στους κατοίκους του νησιού.

HELLENIC ACTIVISTS FIGHT FOR JUSTICE FOR TURKEY’s CRIMES

NEW YORK—On the weekend of September 19th-20th activists of the Hellenic League of America (HLA) and The Cyprus Action Network of America (CANA) stood in support of Justice for Turkey’s Genocidal Crimes by joining the “Justice, Not Protocols” demonstration on Saturday September 19th outside the Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York City, and participating in ‘The 87th Anniversary of the Greek Holocaust’ in Brooklyn, New York on Sunday September 20, 2009.

For over 10 years now the small Three Hierarchs Greek Orthodox Church of Brooklyn New York has been holding a Memorial Service for the victims of the Hellenic Genocide. Organized by Archon Deputatos and Basilios Theodosakis, this year’s small commemoration entitled ‘The 87th Anniversary of the Greek Holocaust’ featured such guest speakers as Ioannis Fidanakis, President of Panthracian Union of America “Orpheus”, Dimitris Molohidis, General Secretary of the Pan-Pontian Federation , and Professor Michael Stratis. For 35 years the story of these five Cypriot solders, (picture in the link above) immortalized in this 1974 photo taken during the illegal Turkish invasion of Cyprus, has been the same as thousands of other missing Cypriots. An entire generation has grown up wondering, as has their relatives, what happen to these young men after they surrendered to Turkish forces? What type of horrors awaited them after this photo was taken? At last that question has finally been answered, as officials with the United Nations led Committee on Missing Persons announced today, that the five solders as well as 14 others Cypriots were found in an abandoned well near the village of Tziaos, inside Occupied Cyprus.
