Ο Παπουλάκης, Άγιος Ιωακείμ ο Βατοπαιδινός εξ Ιθάκης (1)

Ερευνώντες την ανεξερεύνητον βιβλιοθήκην της μονής μας, όλως απροσδόκητος ήλθεν εις χείρας μας εν βιβλίον τετυπωμένον το 1902, φέρον τον τίτλον «Βίος και πολιτεία του οσίου πατρός ημών Ιωακείμ του Ιθακησίου». Συγγραφεύς του βιβλίου ήτο ένας ιατρός από την Ιθάκη, ονόματι Πάνος Δ. Ραυτόπουλος.

Μελετήσαντες το ως άνω βιβλίον, είδομεν ότι επρόκειτο περί του βίου ενός συγχρόνου αγίου, αγνώστου εις ημάς, ο οποίος εκοιμήθη το 1868. Το δε σπουδαίον και άξιον προσοχής είναι ότι ο όσιος Ιωακείμ ήτο αδελφός της καθ’ ημάς Ιεράς Μονής του Βατοπαιδίου.

Ο Μητροπολίτης Λεμεσού Αθανάσιος διαχωρίζει τη θέση του από την επίσημη θέση της Κυπριακής Εκκλησίας για την επίσκεψη του Πάπα Βενέδικτου στην Κύπρο. Δηλώνει ευθαρσώς ότι είναι εναντίον, με επιχείρημα ότι ο Παπισμός είναι αίρεση και ότι η εδώ επίσκεψη του Προκαθημένου της Καθολικής Εκκλησίας θα σκανδαλίσει τις ψυχές αθώων ευσεβών χριστιανών. Την ίδια ώρα τονίζει πως καμία ασχημία δεν πρέπει να γίνει, καμία αγένεια, καμία κακή διαγωγή. Ο ίδιος πάντως δηλώνει ότι δεν θα παραστεί στις εκδηλώσεις υποδοχής.

Πεντηκοστή – Πώς ενεργεί η Θεία Χάρις;

Με το γεγονός της Πεντηκοστής, που κατήλθε το Άγιο Πνεύμα στα μέλη της Εκκλησίας, δεν υπάρχει καμιά μορφή αδυναμίας στην ανθρώπινη φύση. Ο μέχρι τώρα αδύναμος άνθρωπος, ο οποίος ήταν παιχνίδι του διαβόλου και του θανάτου, γίνεται ισχυρός ώστε να «πατεί επάνω όφεων και σκορπίων και επί πάσαν την δύναμιν του εχθρού». Η Χάρις που μένει πάντοτε μαζί μας είναι «η επαγγελία του Πατρός» την οποία ο Κύριος υποσχέθηκε. Δεν  φοβόμαστε ούτε τα πάθη, ούτε την αμαρτία, ούτε τις κακές μας συνήθειες, ούτε το σατανά, ούτε και αυτόν τον θάνατο, εφ’ όσον μένει μαζί μας «εις τον αιώνα ο Παράκλητος, το Πνεύμα της αληθείας».

Γιατί γονατίζουμε τρεις φορές στον Εσπερινό της Πεντηκοστής;

Κατά την «έσχατη» και «μεγάλη» και «σωτήρια» ημέρα της Πεντηκοστής, κατά την οποία μας αποκαλύφθηκε και προσκυνούμε και δοξάζουμε το μέγα μυστήριο της Αγίας και Ομοουσίου και Ζωοποιού και Αδιαιρέτου και Ασυγχύτου Τριάδας, του Ενός και Μοναδικού Θεού. του Πατρός και του Υιού και του Αγίου Πνεύματος, αμέσως μετά την πανηγυρική Θεία Λειτουργία, τελούμε τον «Εσπερινό της Γονυκλισίας», κατά τον οποίο ψάλλουμε ύμνους αφιερωμένους κατ’ εξοχήν στο Πανάγιο Πνεύμα, το τρίτο Πρόσωπο της Τρισηλίου Θεότητας, που είναι «φως και ζωή και ζώσα πηγή νοερά. Πνεύμα σοφίας, Πνεύμα συνέσεως, αγαθόν, ευθές, νοερόν, ηγεμονεύον, καθαίρον τα πταίσματα, Θεός και θεοποιούν, πυρ εκ πυρός προϊόν, λαλούν, ενεργούν, διαιρούν τα χαρίσματα».

Περιγραφή της εικόνας της Πεντηκοστής

Η εικόνα της Πεντηκοστής παρουσιάζει υπερώο. Είναι το υπερώο που έμεναν οι Απόστολοι μετά την Ανάληψη του Κυρίου. Οι Απόστολοι κάθονται ημικυκλικά. Στην κορυφή του ημικύκλιου είναι οι Πρωτοκορυφαίοι Απόστολοι Πέτρος και Παύλος. Τρίτος δεξιά του Πέτρου είναι ο Απόστολος και Ευαγγελιστής Λουκάς και απέναντι του ο Απόστολος και Ευαγγελιστής Μάρκος, τρίτος κοντά στον Παύλο. Ακολουθούν οι υπόλοιποι Απόστολοι κατά σειράν ηλικίας. Όλοι είναι ήρεμοι με γλυκεία έκφραση και στοχαστικό βλέμμα. Κρατούν ειλητάρια έκτος του Αποστόλου Παύλου, που κρατεί βιβλίο.

La Pentecôte a eu lieu pour nous.!

A la Pentecôte, nous avons l’accomplissement final de la mission de Jésus-Christ et l’inauguration de l’âge messianique du Royaume de Dieu – mystiquement présent en ce monde dans l’Église du Messie. De ce fait, le 50ème jour est comme le début d’une nouvelle ère qui est au delà des limites de ce monde, cinquante étant un nombre qui, dans la mystique Juive et Chrétienne, représente l’accomplissement éternel et céleste, 7 fois 7 plus 1.

The holy Pentecost

On the same day, the eighth Sunday from Pascha, we celebrate the holy Pentecost.

Verses.
With mighty wind, in form like tongues of fire
Christ gives God’s Spirit now to the Apostles.
Spirit on this great day on fishers poured.

This feast we also took from the Hebrew Bible; for just as they celebrate Pentecost, honouring the number seven, and that when they had passed through fifty days from Pascha they received the Law, so we too as we celebrate for fifty days after Pascha receive the all-holy Spirit, who gives laws and guides into all truth and lays down what is pleasing to God.

On this day, the fiftieth after Easter, we celebrate the Feast of Pentecost when the fullness of the Holy Trinity was revealed through the coming of the Third Person of the Holy Trinity, the Holy Spirit.

The holy Pentecost (explanation of the Feast)

On the tenth day after the Ascension of Jesus Christ during the Jewish feast of Pentecost, at the third hour, but according to our reckoning at nine o’clock in the morning, when people usually go to the temple both for offering up a sacrifice and prayer [1] all the disciples were assembled in Jerusalem, in the upper room (Acts 1:13), which was «on Mount Zion», «and suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind,» (as though from an unusually strong wind).»

Actually there was no wind rustling, but the noise was similar as if it were from the strength of a wind, but without the wind.» This noise «filled the whole house where they were sitting», – not only of the apostles, but, according to the commentary of St. John Chrysostom, even other believers in Christ (Acts 1:16).

Iubiţii mei, Biserica noastră, Biserica Ortodoxă nu este lucru omenesc; este un aşezământ de Dumnezeu lucrat. Şi astăzi sărbătoreşte ziua ei de naştere.

Pe faţada Catedralei Mitropolitane din Florina, a Sfântului Pantelimon, există un mozaic. Reprezintă Biserica în formă de corabie. Cârmaciul ei este Hristos. Ajutoare – apostolii şi clericii. Călători – toţi creştinii, iar vântul favorabil care umflă pânzele ei, este Sfântul Duh.

Însă corabia Bisericii de-a lungul veacurilor adeseori pluteşte pe furtuna, care ridică valuri ale rătăcirii şi ale necredinţei. Împărţirile lăuntrice ale ereziilor şi ale schismelor, prigoanele din afară din partea închinătorilor la idoli şi a necredincioşilor, dar şi intervenţiile statului – considerat creştin – provoacă de-a lungul vremurilor naufragiu. O imagine în mic a unui astfel de naufragiu au trăit, de pildă, credincioşii din patria noastră la sfârşitul anilor 80. Atunci s-a încercat slăbirea Bisericii printr-o nouă confiscare a averii ei mobiliare. Însă mai mare primejdie era ameninţarea autonomiei ei spirituale. Simpatiile şi antipatiile de partid au provocat în acele zile antipatie şi împărţire.

Şi doar atunci? De multe ori se creează situaţii asemănătoare. Şi unii, care cred că Biserica trebuie să fie întotdeauna supusă faţă de stat, ne spun:

Lord, I have cried
We celebrate Pentecost and the coming of the Spirit, the appointed time of the promise and the fulfilment of hope. How great is the mystery? Great indeed and revered! And so we cry out to you: Creator of all, Lord, glory to you! (Twice)

With tongues of foreigners, O Christ, you renewed your Disciples, that through them they might proclaim you, the immortal Word and God, who grant our souls your great mercy.

The Holy Spirit gives all things: makes prophecies flow, perfects priests, taught the unlettered wisdom, revealed fishermen to be theologians, welds together the whole institution of the Church. Advocate, consubstantial and equal in majesty with the Father and the Son, glory to you. (Video follows)

On the Sunday of Pentecost

Glory to Jesus Christ!

The Reading is from John 7:37-52; 8:12

“He who believes in me, as the scripture says, ‘Out of his heart shall flow rivers of living water.’ Now this he said about the Spirit, which those who believed in him were to receive.“ “Do you not know,” writes St. Paul, “that you are temples of the Holy Spirit?”

The question is: are there rivers of living water flowing from our hearts or rivers of something else? Are our hearts at peace or are we troubled within? Are we at ease or anxious, happy or confused? Do we bring joy to others? What is coming from our hearts? Is it compassion? Kindness? Patience? Love? Does our presence bring peace and healing to the people we meet or would it have been better had they not met us at all? The fruit of our lives reveals much about the state of our souls.

Metropolitan Anthony Bloom poses the same question in a different way:

“Why is it that people who meet us never notice that we are limbs of the risen Christ, temples of the Holy Spirit? Why? Each of us has got to give his own reply to this question. Let us, each of us, examine ourselves and be ready to answer before our own conscience and do what is necessary to change our lives in such a way that people meeting us may look at us and say,’Such people we have never seen. There is something about them that we have never seen in anyone. What is it?’ And we could answer:
